Ham and Pineapple Toastie
Welcome to the land of toasted paradise, where salty meets sweet, and crunchy meets melty in a sandwich so good it’ll make your taste buds hula dance. Warning: you might just book a flight to a tropical island after one bite.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (your choice—sourdough works great!)
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 slices of cheese (Swiss or provolone recommended)
- 2 slices of ham
- 2 pineapple rings
- 2-3 slices of bacon
- 1 tbsp Polynesian sauce (or a sweet-and-tangy sauce of your choice)
Instructions
- Cook the bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon until crispy. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving the glorious bacon fat in the pan.
- Fry the ham and pineapple: Add the ham slices to the pan with the bacon fat and sear them for 1-2 minutes per side, until slightly caramelized. Set them aside. Next, fry the pineapple rings in the same pan for about 2 minutes per side, until golden and lightly browned.
- Assemble the sandwich:
- Spread mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.
- Layer the cheese, ham, bacon, and pineapple rings onto one slice of bread (non-mayo side).
- Drizzle Polynesian sauce over the pineapple rings.
- Top with the second slice of bread, mayo side facing out.
- Grill to perfection: Heat the skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Serve and enjoy: Slice your Tropical Bliss Toastie in half (diagonally, for maximum flair) and serve hot. Bask in the glory of your tropical creation!
